The High School in Lota is Honored

This year, on the occasion of the Bicentennial Celebration of the country’s independence, the government has organized a context for high schools in Chile who reach a certain level of excellence in terms of the quality of the education offered and the professional formation of the teaching and administrative staff. The goal is to encourage the schools in these areas by granting them the title “Outstanding Schools of the Bicentennial Year”, as well as additional financial support. All of this will take place during the 2011 academic year.

International Volunteers - Program in preparation

"In the USA as in France, there are three fundamental pillars: Faith, Community, and Mission." - Fr. Benoît Bigard, benoitbigard@lemontmartre.netbenoit_b_volun_01.jpg

On May 4 and 5, the commission set up by the General Council to establish an international volunteer program in accordance with the decision of the General Chapter met in Quebec City during the visit of one of its members, Father Daniel Carton, Vice-Provincial of Madagascar. Also present were Father Luis- Ramón Rendón of Argentina, Father Benoît Bigard of Canada (replacing Father Jean-François
Petit of France), and Father John Franck of the United States. The General Council asked the members of the commission to study five aspects of such a program: its feasibility, suggestions for its implementation in the various provinces of the Congregation, coordination of existing programs and collaboration with the entire Assumption Family, the involvement of lay collaborators, and its impact on vocation ministry. The members of the commission invited Mrs. Beth Fleming to attend. She is currently the co-director of AMA-USA (Associate Missionaries of the Assumption , a program of the RAs), which has existed since 1960 and which has been supported by the Assumptionists in the USA for the last seven years.
