Since February 26 Very Rev. Benoît Grière, A.A., the superior general of the Augustinians of the Assumption (Assumptionists), has been here on our continent. Fr. Grière, together with one of his assistants, Rev. Marcelo Marciel (a Chilean), is making his first canonical visit to the communities of the Province of Chile - Argentina.

It is with the objective of constituting a Rule of Life and to devise a Mission statement (life project) for the Lay Assumptionists that the Province of Chile-Argentina organized a meeting of highly dedicated lay people who are eager to live the Assumptionist Charism and Spirituality. These lay people who came from 4 Latin American countries (Chile, Argentina, Colombia, and Ecuador) met in Buenos Aires, Argentina from 09/21 to 09/23/2012.
On Christmas Eve 1850, the Congregation of the Augustinians of the Assumption was born. That night Emmanuel d'Alzon, together with a small group of generous men (the first Assumptionists), pronounced their first religious vows, thus launching this new congregation.
The International Formation Commission (IFC), made up of Fr. Emmanuel Kahindo (Vicar General-Rome), Fr. Richard Lamoureux (USA), Fr. Iulian Prajescu (Romania) and Fr. Jean-Paul Sagadou (Burkina Faso), has just completed a week-long working session (5-13 November), in Worcester (USA).
