Père Paul CHARPENTIER In his apostolic mission in the working world
Pierre-Louis Charpentier was born at Bury in the department of Oise on January 23, 1914. He lived at Levallois from 1920 to 1938. He attended Christian Brother’s elementary school. Having become a draughtsman in 1929, he joined the J.O.C. (Christian Youth Workers). He became the permanent secretary of Father Michel Cornillie, A.A., chaplain of the Paris-North Federation, and participated actively in starting up the Federation. When he left, it was composed of forty sections in a large Northern suburban area which also included several Paris districts. Having felt a desire to become a priest, the young man completed his education at Saint-Denis as a late vocation and then, in 1936, entered the Assumptionist novitiate of Les Essarts where he was known as Brother Paul.

The council is closed and it is Richard, who during mid-day prayer, officially declared it finished ! Already this morning, a beautiful Eucharist, on the feast of Saint Mark, permitted us to give thanks for the work accomplished. There were a few symbols in chapel of Due Pini to illustrate our apostolic desire : a tam-tam (drum?) of which the sonority resounds far away to announce the Good News, the animation sheets to deepen the texts of the General Chapter, and also the new cross of the congregation. This one was given to each one of the participants. It will show that we are one body with several members dispersed throughout the world.

FRS. GRIÈRE & CARTON Another capitular priority, Asia was placed on Monday’s program. Three Assumptionist foundations illustrate our will to deeply entrench ourselves on a huge continent that has a considerable importance for the future of the world and the Church. One among us has insisted upon the necessity to sustain the foundations that remain fragile but also concerning the obligation to look further than these first installations. “We must have a view that is long term!”.
