Bro. Alex with RAs From March 30th until April 8th, Easter Sunday, Father Richard Lamoureux preached a retreat to members of the Assumption family, at the retreat house of the Religious of the Assumption in Antipolo (Philippines), a short distance from the center of Manila.
The retreatants, ninety strong, included Religious sisters of the Assumption, Assumptionists and Little Sisters of the Assumption. Since it took place largely during Holy Week, the central theme of both prayer and reflection was “living and celebrating the Paschal Mystery”, drawing on texts from the Gospel of John and Augustine’s commentaries on the fourth Gospel. A good amount of time was spent reflecting on the power of the liturgy’s symbols and texts for Holy Week; the celebrations themselves were held in the large campus chapel of the sisters’ school, where large numbers gathered for the important liturgies of Holy Week. |
