“It is no longer a time for impressive documents or recommendations without concrete follow-up, but a time to translate what has already been decided into concrete actions.” (Acts of the General Chapter 2005, p. iii)
This statement of the General Chapter at least in part inspired Fr. Miguel Diaz Ayllon and Fr. Vincent Leclercq to suggest that a special tool should be designed to help Assumptionists, lay and religious, to get beyond the words of the Chapter documents, so that the decisions of the Chapter would be better assimilated and put into action. Thanks to their diligent effort over the past year, these seven instruments are being published for use by individuals and communities/groups to help them absorb both the spirit and the directives of the 2005 Chapter.
These instruments cover seven major topics addressed by the capitulants, and they all follow the same simple format. How they are to be used is self-explanatory. We can be grateful to their authors, and to the Bursar General who drafted the paper on finances. Thanks as well to those who shared their experience and convictions regarding each of these topics. May this tool help us to continue deepening our appreciation of the call that has come to our entire Assumptionist family through this major event.
