Rome, August 18 to September 6, 2008
1 Session Begins
Monday August 18, about twenty Assumptionists from Brazil, Bulgaria, Belgium, Chile, Democratic Republic of Congo, Canada, Spain, France, Italy, and Madagascar met in Rome as “participants,” “speakers,” “organizers,” and “translators” of a “virtual community” of Ongoing Formation which will last three weeks.
Here is the program:
- First week: “Rereading my life before God and my Brothers,” with the help of Saint Augustine and Father d’Alzon;
- Second week: “Evaluating my fraternal life in an Assumptionist apostolic community,” in the light of Saint Augustine and Father d’Alzon;
- Third week: “Rediscovering our Assumptionist identity and our sense of belonging to a Region, a Province, and our Institute.
Fr. Richard Lamoureux, Superior General, opened the session by
outlining the purpose, the method, and the steps to be taken during
this international meeting. He himself animated the first week by
presenting a rereading of Saint Augustine in four stages:
- Childhood and family life
- Intellectual development
- Moral development
- Spiritual and mystical development.
Moreover, the personal presentations of several confreres were touching!
Remarkable too were the translations of Sister Maria Magdalena, R.A., and of Fr. Bolivar Paluku!
