Who said that provincials come to Rome to go sightseeing ?

With their program already in place, the Plenary General Council (PGC) really has a lot on their plate.

Due Pini – Rome

Formation of formators

  • Memory and patrimony

This is a brief chronicle of the recent works accomplished in our Congregation Archives in Rome. We have consecrated practically the months of March, April and May to the bulletins and periodical publications of the Assumption, masculine and feminine.
  • From August 25 to the 31, under the leadership of the General Treasurer, all the provincial treasurers of the Congregation gathered in Rome to address certain precise economic questions facing the Congregation. Six topics were on the agenda:
  • «Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations» (Mt 28 :19). Having adopted this motto, the Archdiocese of Rio de Janeiro is preparing to welcome thousands, perhaps millions, of young people for World Youth Day, July 23-28, 2013.
  • My experience of apostolic life with lay Assumptionists has been an adventure helping me to discover another face of Assumptionist beauty. At the time when the lay-religious alliance was being conceived, no one questioned whether we were on the verge of losing our identity.

From one session to the next

No sooner did the Plenary General Council meeting end here at Due Pini than another began, one for the formation of formators. It began today, Monday, June 24, and will go until July 24. Sixteen formators are taking part coming from the four corners of the world. There will be 10 speakers, two translators and one retreat director. Here are a few representative photos.

An unquiet peace

Saturday, July 6, 2013
We began this Saturday with the Eucharist, the celebration of our lives in the One who is Life itself. Like every day, our desire to discover and live the values of the Kingdom, already present among us, is thanksgiving and determined listening in the liturgy that we celebrate.

Missionary Sisters of the Assumption

Sister Anne Patricia, Superior General, sketches for us a brief history
It was in 1849 that Sister Marie-Gertrude Henningsen (1822-1904), one of the first Religious of the Assumption, arrived in Capetown , South Africa.

A certain experience of Church

Session of formation for formators, Wednesday, June 26, 2013

A grammar lesson
Too often words elude our grasp when we try to express experiences that we have had. This « world blessed with faith », one of the main topics raised during our discussions, is given to us to be lived by signs which do not deceive and which are like a trademark, family traits that characterize Assumptionist life.

Little Sisters of the Presentation of Our Lady in the Temple (P.S.P.)

Sister Apollonie Kavira, Superior General, sketches for us a brief history.
The Congregation was founded by Msgr Joseph-Henri Pierard, Assumptionist,

D.R.C.: continued concern for the fate of three priests kidnapped in October

There is still no news regarding the three Assumptionists kidnapped on Friday evening, October 19, from their parish of Notre Dame des pauvres (Our Lady of the Poor) in Mbau, Democratic Republic of the Congo. The priests, Jean-Pierre Ndulani, superior, Anselme Kabule Wasukundi, pastor, and Edmond Kisughu Bamutupe, associate pastor, are still being held without any knoweldge where and by whom. There has still been no demand made by the kidnappers, whose identity remains unknown. It is completely a mystery, but, unfortunately, one that is not isolated in this part of the Congo.
