We must honor the promise we made yesterday. In fact, the PGC has just concluded its meeting with an important reminder from the Superior General: the responsibility of the major superior, while requiring technical skills, remains above all a service rendered to the brothers in faith and trust. It consists, in fact, in offering assistance to our brothers and sisters with simplicity, and particularly to those who hold positions of responsibility within our provinces.
Following the Eucharist, the PGC continued with a vote on the decisions and guidelines that may be communicated to us at a later date by our Major Superiors. This was followed by a few announcements regarding the Congregation’s new website and the digitization of the General House library catalog.
Overall, this PGC session was a wonderful experience, a true time of community life and the practice of shared responsibility. Hats off to the brothers from our two communities in Bucharest and Iaşi for their warm and fraternal welcome. The members of the PGC will leave with this wonderful image of hospitality, combined with helpfulness and attention to the smallest details to ensure that everything went smoothly. A big thank you to Mrs. Gemma, who had to leave her family to prepare delicious Romanian dishes for us. Thank you for her kindness and generosity. May the Lord bless her and her family.
It is now time to make preparations for our return journeys to our respective communities. The members of the Curia will remain in Iaşi for two days of the Ordinary General Council (OGC). The Superior General and the Secretary, for their part, will remain in the East for the canonical visit to the communities in Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey, and Greece.
