Session for Religious brothers in Rome
A first
For the first time in recent memory, a specific session has been organized for the religious brothers of the Assumptionist congregation. The session, taking place from June 26 to July 4 in Rome, marks a significant milestone and has begun on a positive note.
The event brings together 15 religious brothers out of the approximately 40 Assumptionists living their AA vocation in this way. The term "non-priestly religious" has often been used, but it is less than ideal. Alternative expressions have been considered, such as "true brothers," "brother-brothers," "brothers²"; or "lay brothers." However, these can be confusing or lack clarity. The preferred term is "Religious Brother," in line with the 2015 document "Identity and Mission of the Religious Brother in the Church" published by the Dicastery for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life (DIVCSVA).
- Fostering Fraternity: Bringing together religious brothers from diverse cultures and generations to strengthen their sense of brotherhood.
- Reflecting on Apostolic Experiences: Sharing and reflecting on their apostolic experiences, understanding them better, and formulating insights collectively.
- Inspiration from the Church: Exploring various aspects of the Church that can inspire their vocation, including visits to Roman basilicas, the Dicastery for Consecrated Life, congregations of religious brothers, and significant sites related to Père d'Alzon.
- Sharing Insights: Communicating their convictions, discoveries, questions, and suggestions with the entire congregation to better promote and support the vocation of the religious brother.
As the session unfolds, participants are engaged in a rich exchange of ideas and experiences, fostering a deeper sense of community and shared mission.
